Risks of Massage

Massage therapy is generally very safe when provided by a qualified professional. However, like any physical treatment, there are some mild and temporary side effects that some clients may experience. These can include:

  • Mild soreness or tenderness

  • Fatigue or feeling sleepy

  • Headaches

  • Light bruising in sensitive areas

  • Emotional release (such as feeling tearful or overly relaxed)

These effects are usually short-lived and part of the body’s natural response to treatment. If you ever feel uncomfortable during your session, please speak up, your therapist will always adjust the treatment to suit your comfort and needs.

Aftercare Advice

To help your body get the most out of your massage and feel its best afterward, we recommend following these simple aftercare tips.

Stay Hydrated

Massage helps move fluids through your body, so it’s normal to feel a little dehydrated. Drinking water after your massage supports your circulation and helps you feel refreshed.

 Avoid Strenuous Activity

Because your muscles are relaxed and stretched after treatment, it's easier to overdo things. Try to avoid intense exercise or heavy lifting for the rest of the day to reduce the risk of injury.

Avoid Alcohol

Massage increases blood flow, which can make alcohol affect you more strongly than usual. It’s best to wait at least 24 hours before drinking alcohol.

Avoid Stimulants

Stimulants like caffeine can feel stronger after a massage, too. Try to limit coffee, energy drinks, or anything else that might keep you from relaxing.

Eat Light Meals

Avoid heavy meals before or after your massage — a light meal will help your body focus on relaxing and healing.
